EXAMPLES OF CHROMATIC NOTATION FOR MODERN LYRES - I.

The first example shows a notation of a simple folk tune. For a reference, there is also standard diatonic version of the same melody below the chromatic notation. The song called “Spala bych, spala” is an old Bohemian lullaby, a mellow prayer sung by a woman before she goes to sleep with angels...

And the same tune together with a simple accompaniment and the melody moved an octave higher. The equivalent diatonic version spans across two staves, while in lyre notation, another octave stack (two lines) is simply added to the single staff.
